1) When will I be notified if I've been selected? |

Finalists will be notified the 1st week in April.

2) What does it mean to be a finalist?
|

The Selection Committee narrows down our selection to several finalists based upon the submitted application and supporting documentation. Finalists may be required to participate in a face-to-face interview with members of the Melissa Cook Memorial Foundation selection committee.

3) When and where are the interviews held?
|

It varies every year, but we typically try to hold the interview on the 3rd or 4th Saturday in April. We strive to find a central location that works for everyone.

4) What is weighed most heavily in the application?
|

While every portion of the application is taken into account, the most weight is given to financial need, the essay, and academic achievement. |

5) What happens to my application and supporting documentation after a recipient has been selected?

Every application and all supporting documentation is destroyed and promptly disposed.
|
Do not include reference letters that are generic or addressed to another organization or school.
Read through ALL of the application requirements and make sure that everything that has been requested is included in your application packet. Use the checklist for verification.
Please take the time to thoroughly review the website and the Foundation.
Your essay should include, in part, your goals for college and beyond and how you plan on achieving those goals. Explain what motivates you and why you think you should be considered for this scholarship. Add any additional details that you feel are relevant.
